Wacko Michael Jackson’s Goods Pull $1.5 Million at First Round Auction

An auction of Jackson family memorabilia owned by a luggage company that acquired them indirectly after a 2002 failed business venture wound up in bankruptcy court, has netted more than $1.5 million, Guernsey’s auction house announced last Friday.
Top selling items included a red military style jacket for over $20,000 dollars and a black coat with an “M” crest for $24,000. The auction at the Las Vegas Hard Rock Hotel and Casino also included memorabilia from other famous Jacksons - Janet, Jermaine, Tito and La Toya, but no word about things belonging to that monkey he used to have, or his mummified remains.
Reps said they weren’t disappointed with auction prices, even though the company is more than $7 million into purchase and transport costs, since only a third of the total items were presented for sale. The collection still includes master tapes of hundreds of songs, some never released, that will be sold later.
