Last week the famed guitarist Dave Evans, better known as “The Edge” from U2, took a great leap for mankind when he purchased a modest 120-acre canyon estate in Malibu California for a paltry $15 million. In addition to raising meager sums for musicians, he’s also raising taxes for his neighbors.

While his fundraising campaign, though heralded by many, has raised tens of thousands of dollars, the real estate commissions alone on his new home, which is rumored to include a cottage as well as a creek, is believed to have paid out as much as $450,000 in real estate commissions to two unnamed California state brokers.

The Edge also owns luxury homes in Ireland, France and is rumored to own property in several other nations as well.
