TV Interview Denied for Paris Hilton’s Brief Seconds in the Slammer
Sheriff Lee Baca reiterated that Paris Hilton will not be able to give television interviews while serving her brief, easy jail sentence, and that serious actions have been taken to prevent cameras from being smuggled into the jailhouse. Baca told the Los Angeles Times that deputies and jail employees have been told to treat the 26-year-old heiress like any other inmate, which probably means that mail jailers will be trying like hell to tap that ass.
The Sheriff told reporters that,
“Paying a debt to society should not be an element of her celebrity. Her occupation is publicity, but no one should profit in jail [except the inmates with shanks]. Jails are not circuses and not places where `fun’ is the priority. Jail should be a corrective learning experience. [She will] experience her incarceration as all other women will experience it. She won’t get better food [and] she won’t get different lockup time or a different environment.”
The jail houses about 2,200 women, which sounds hot, but prison chicks are famously nasty. Officials have said Hilton will be kept away from the general population, perhaps more to prevent her raping them than vice-versa. Sheriff’s officials say she’ll serve only 23 days behind bars because of state rules allowing shorter sentences for good behavior, the thing for which Hilton is obviously famous.
