Elliot Mintz isn’t just a great publicist, he’s one of the best. He spins better than a Disneyland Tea-Cup, and when his A-list client’s neck is on the line, he gets on the stand to take the rap. Attorneys for Paris Hilton insist they told the jail-bound celebrity she was not allowed to drive, but Elliot Mintz said it was his misunderstanding, and that he told her she could, despite evidence to the contrary.

Hilton fired the publicist, but has now re-hired him so quickly that, “…our media relationship resumes uninterrupted.” You know, like uninterrupted as in it never happened, or had been planned in advance.

Hilton told the judge that Mintz told her it was legal to drive on a suspended license for work purposes, unaware that many people drive exclusively for work purposes, and that these laws apply to more than just party people. Elliot Mintz also took the stand in her defense, but the judge described his testimony as “worthless”.

Hilton’s attorneys already filed an appeal. Barring that, she must report to the Century Regional Detention Facility in Los Angeles by June 5. Makes you wonder if he’ll put on a dress and try to take her place in prison, too.
