Paris Hilton is heavily promoting an online campaign to beg California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger to pardon her following her “cruel” 45-day prison sentence for driving on a suspended license. Sure, Reverends Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton failed to spare the life of Nobel Peace Prize nominee Stanley “Tookie” Williams for brokering a peace accord between the Bloods and Crips, but a handful of online signatures should do the trick for the inhumanity of six-weeks in the slammer.

Hilton has posted to the blog on her MySpace page urging fans to sign a petition demanding she not be required to serve her jail sentence. In it, she insisted she had been used as a scapegoat by authorities seeking to highlight the dangers of drink-driving. Apparently she doesn’t know the meaning of the word “scapegoat”, but perhaps more alarming was that she wrote, “My friend Joshua started this petition, please help and sign it. i LOVE YOU ALL!!!!!” This only proves she has a limited command of the English language, and no command of the caps and caps-lock keys.

Schwarzenegger press secretary Aaron McLear told local broadcast network ABC 7, “It would be inappropriate for the governor to insert himself in this battle until the individual has exhausted all of his or her legal remedies, and at this point I don’t think this is the case.”

 

Schwarzenegger said in a written statement, “Based on the cumulative weight of the evidence, there is no reason to second-guess the… decision of guilt or raise significant doubts or serious reservations about … convictions.” He wasn’t talking about Paris though, that was his statement about Tookie Williams.

Paris violated her probation twice by driving after her license was suspended, and most people would already be serving their year in jail. Apparently the heiress is really as clueless about real life as some have speculated.
