LA Cops Arrest Ike Turner for 20 Year Old Drug Warrant
When cops saw a 2002 Mercedes S-50 going over 80mph and straddling lanes on the 405 North freeway in the San Fernando Valley around Midnight Tuesday, they pulled it over and ran the suspect for outstanding warrants. Ike Turner is 75, and less daring than in his younger years, but he wasn’t the problem, it was his 18-year-old warrant (that was only alive for a few hours) that caused the problem.
Turner was taken into custody and booked into L.A.’s Twin Towers jail, and held for 15 hours until “the whole thing was ruled a misunderstanding.” LA Police Department spokeswoman April Harding said the 1989 warrant was never deleted from the system, even though it had been vacated very day it was issued when Turner appeared in court.
Turner has had plenty of drug-related legal problems, including an 18 month sentence in 1990 for possession and transportation of cocaine. No less, Los Angeles’ infamous men in blue miss no opportunity to arrest the famous recording artist and Tina Turner slapper, despite how obvious it should have been that the warrant was invalid.
