Whether you’re more of an O.J. fan, or a Homer lover like myself, you know your beloved Simpson and you can’t mistake him for the other. Try telling that to the suits at 20th Century Fox, who are now threatening to bring down the shrunken glove of deniable justice against viral video for a parody of, well, of both Simpson’s. Fox has ordered www.broadcaster.com to remove its three O.J. Simpson’s shorts, claiming the clips infringe on the studio’s copyrights.

Each clip ends by disclaiming that, “The previous video is not affiliated or endorsed by either Fox, Matt Groening or anyone related to Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa or Maggie. In other words—IT’S NOT THE SIMPSONS—it’s the O.J. Simpson’s. D’oh!”, as if anybody in their right mind could make such a mistake. Fox is not particularly known for being in their right minds, so it pretty much makes sense.

Broadcaster.com CEO Martin Wade, the says they’re not ready to give up just yet, citing First Amendment’s protection of parody speech and fair use. Wade says in a statement that, “We respect the rights of content owners. We are examining all the issues raised by the Fox request. Our goal is to be a respecter of content rights and at the same time find legal ways to bring our community members the content they enjoy.” In the mean time, the clips are still up on the site and have blown up on YouTube and other viral sites thanks to all this wonderful, unrivaled, free publicity they get, thanks to a mere Cease & Desist notice issued by the notoriously over-zealous sorts at Fox.
