Caribbean Pirates Tap Booty with Timbers Shivered

Despite lukewarm critical reception, Disney’s third installment in the “Pirates” franchise still managed to break a record or two, even in light of the fact that many of the records were set just this month by “Spiderman 3″. It pulled the highest ever six-day total, and the biggest UK weekend take, and Depp has reportedly inked on for part four to boot. The six-day total for “At World’s End” was an immodest $401 million, almost triple the reported budget of the film, and the profits will continue pouring in from coming weeks, merchandise, eventual Pay-Per-View sales, and the assorted DVD releases scheduled for this Christmas.
Even though Time magazine called it “at wits’ end”, suggesting the film makes “no sense whatsoever”, Disney marketing and distribution president Mark Zoradi said the “record-breaking response” of the total global box office gross was “nothing short of incredible”.
