Ashton Kutcher Getting as Big with CBS as w/ Bruce Willis’ Ex
Ashton Kutcher is more than “that dumb guy” from “That 70s Show”. In recent years he’s made a name for himself and Katalyst Films, his production company, with such hits as “Punk’d”, “Beauty & The Geek”, and the exceptionally short lived “The Real Wedding Crashers”. Having married Demi Moore, decades his senior, it’s no surprise he’s the newfound king of reality.
Katalyst’s new lineup of reality series includes MTV’s “Adventures in Hollyhood” and “Room 401″, which strengthened the bargaining power leading to the two year deal with CBS and its assorted subsidiaries.
Kutcher owns Katalyst with Jason Goldberg, where they had a contract over the past three years, developing such projects like the comedy series “Miss/Guided”, which was recently picked up by ABC as a mid season replacement.
Unlike the deal with 20th TV (Fox), the CBS deal lets Katalyst to retain the international distribution rights to its shows, due to the success of the “Beauty and the Geek” format overseas.
