Rap star Akon, whose hits include “Don’t Matter”, found that some things do matter, has apologized for lurid dancing onstage with an extremely underage girl. The singer simulated sex acts with the young girl he had invited onstage during an April 12 concert in Trinidad, and videos of the incident was circulated widely on the Internet. According to The Associated Press, 34 year old Akon said he was sorry for the incident and that he didn’t know she was underage.

“I want to sincerely apologize for the embarrassment and any pain I’ve caused to the young woman who joined me onstage, her family and the Trinidad community for the events at my concert. It was never my intention to embarrass or take advantage of my fans in any way, especially those under the age of 18. That is why we tried to make sure that the club did not admit anyone under 18 in the audience… Somehow, that standard was not met.”

 

Akon’s latest album, “Konvicted,” did make platinum by the skin of its gold grills in the United States. R. Kelley was not available for comment, but presumably found the recording fairly sexy, despite its lacking many of the things that made his own so famous.
